In the spring of 2004, New Beginnings Church was planted in the fertile soil of Evadale, Texas. Sixteen adults and ten children helped launch this vision, with God’s blessings from our parent church, First Assembly of God in Silsbee, Texas. Our charge: to go forth and reach our community for Christ.
On March 28, 2004, we celebrated our first Sunday service at the Evadale High School Auditorium. This was to be our base of ministry for the next three years. Since that time of such small beginnings, God has blessed us over and beyond anything we could have ever imagined.
In August of 2004, we were able to host our first missionaries, Greg and Tammie Jenkins. During that service, Greg gave us the idea of tithing on our general church income to missions. This struck a chord in our hearts, and in January, 2005, we began doing just that. It wasn’t long before we began to see the hand of God at work, confirming what we already knew: God blesses those who bless others. Today, New Beginnings supports over 30 missionaries and missions projects.
When New Beginnings was planted, land was not readily available for purchase in Evadale. However, it wasn’t long before God miraculously provided the way for us to purchase five acres of land, and in an excellent location. Although our church was now tithing to missions, God blessed us with enough additional income to pay for the land in full within a six month period.
In 2006, we began the first phase of building on our property and held our first official service there on Father’s Day, 2007. Two weeks after our first service, we were completely debt free! God’s hand opened up the windows of heaven just as He promised He would in Malachi 3:10.
The miracles of financial blessings pale in comparison to the lives that have been changed through the ministry of New Beginnings Church. It is truly amazing to see how such a small group has blossomed fourfold in the last five years. With God’s help we will endeavor to fulfill the Great Commission. God has raised us up and given us a strong desire to know Him and to make Him known. We give Him all the glory for the great things He has done and for the great things He is going to do. Our past has been glorious, but we know the best is yet to come!
